Anthropic signs $10B six-year compute deal with cloud startup Volta

On August 4, 2026, Anthropic agreed to a six-year, roughly $10 billion cloud-compute deal with Volta, an AI-infrastructure startup founded in January 2026 by former Brookfield executives. The capacity will come from a 133 MW Norway data center built with Bitdeer on Nvidia Vera Rubin systems, extending Anthropic’s recent run of compute deals alongside SpaceX and Amazon.

What it means Frontier-lab compute is increasingly financed through young specialist infrastructure firms, not just hyperscalers — pricing and capacity planning for AI products now depends on this second tier.
