US futures regulator opens public comment on trading compute as a derivative

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission published a request for comment on 21 August asking how derivatives contracts on compute should be listed and overseen. It is a proposed rule in the Federal Register and the comment window closes on 20 October 2026, so anyone buying, reselling or hedging GPU capacity can file a response in their own words.

What it means Once compute is a listed, hedgeable contract, a large training or inference bill becomes something you can price and forward-buy instead of just absorb.
