GitHub Copilot retires Claude Opus 4.7, two Gemini Flash models and Kimi K2.7 Code

On 2 October 2026 GitHub deprecated four models across every Copilot experience. Claude Opus 4.7 is replaced by Claude Opus 5.5, Gemini 3.5 Flash and 3.6 Flash by Gemini 3.8 Flash, and Kimi K2.7 Code by Kimi K3. Enterprise admins may need to enable the replacement models in their Copilot policies.

What it means Workflows and policies pinned to the retired models need updating now; the replacements also show which model generations are current.
