Grok 4.6 reaches GitHub Copilot, with an admin policy switch on Business and Enterprise

GitHub said on 14 August 2026 that xAI’s Grok 4.6 is rolling out in Copilot for Pro, Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise plans. GitHub’s internal testing put it strongest on terminal-based coding in VS Code and Copilot CLI and on longer-horizon tasks needing sustained reasoning and tool use. The rollout is gradual, and Copilot Business and Enterprise administrators must enable the Grok 4.6 policy in Copilot settings before their developers see it. Artificial Analysis independently scores Grok 4.6 (high) at 61 on its Intelligence Index, level with GPT-5.6 Sol (max) and Claude Opus 5 (high).

What it means On Business and Enterprise this stays invisible until an administrator turns it on — so "we do not have access to that model" is usually a settings page rather than a licensing fact.
