LangChain argues the agent stack is consolidating into managed services — and names the seven things they absorb

Harrison Chase argued on 12 August 2026 that agent building is moving from assembled frameworks to managed agents, where the harness and the infrastructure ship together. He names seven production problems the managed layer takes over: runtime reliability and failure recovery, event streaming to a user interface, secure code execution, context and instruction management, evaluation, agent memory, and authentication and authorisation. He positions LangChain’s Managed Deep Agents beside Claude Managed Agents and Vercel’s Eve as three developer-facing takes on the same idea, sharing common standards.

What it means Read the seven as an audit list against your own agent: the ones you have not solved are what you would actually be buying, and if you have solved all seven the managed pitch is not for you.
