Microsoft AI's voice and transcription models arrive on Vercel AI Gateway

On 1 October 2026 Vercel added Microsoft AI (MAI) models to AI Gateway: MAI-Voice-2.1 and MAI-Voice-2.1-Flash generate speech in 23 languages, and MAI-Transcribe-2 Streaming returns partial transcripts while audio is still arriving. Vercel says AI Gateway is one of a limited number of platforms offering MAI models.

What it means Microsoft's in-house voice models are now reachable through a multi-provider gateway, which makes them easy to test against other speech and transcription options.
