Microsoft releases Mage-Flow — a compact, MIT-licensed image model that generates and edits at any resolution

Microsoft published Mage-Flow on July 21: a 4-billion-parameter image generation and editing stack whose single checkpoint handles resolutions from 512 to 2048 pixels at any aspect ratio. The company reports the fast variant generates a full image in about 0.6 seconds on one data-center GPU, and the weights ship under an MIT license.

What it means A small, permissively licensed, single-GPU image model is a practical self-hosted alternative to closed image APIs for product teams.
