Microsoft Research's Magnetar proves ordinary Rust, Go or C programs ran correctly, 10 to 39 times faster than prior systems
Microsoft Research introduced Magnetar on 15 October 2026, a system for zero-knowledge proofs that lets someone run a workload and receive, alongside the result, a short proof that the program ran correctly. Anyone can check the proof in milliseconds without rerunning the program, trusting whoever ran it, or seeing the data it ran on. Microsoft says Magnetar proves programs written in Rust, Go or C, runs 10 to 39 times faster on average than the prior fastest comparable systems, and rests its security only on standard hash functions.
What it means Practical proofs of correct execution could let outsourced or agent-run computation be checked without trusting the operator. The speed figures are Microsoft's own.
