FDA details an Expedited IND pilot to speed up first-in-human clinical trials
The FDA published details on 16 October 2026 of its Expedited Investigational New Drug (IND) Pilot Program, an initiative under HHS Operation TrialBlazer to evaluate new approaches for accelerating first-in-human clinical trials in the United States while maintaining its safety and oversight standards. Most of the pilot takes place in the pre-IND phase, before a sponsor submits its official 30-day IND application. Applications cover the sponsor and drug, plus the qualifications of the prospective research institution.
What it means Faster entry into first-in-human trials shortens the path for new therapies, including the longevity drugs this corpus tracks.
