Skild AI trains robots through self-play, logging over 140 years of simulated soccer
Robotics & Automation News reported on 16 October 2026 that Skild AI has demonstrated a self-play training approach that lets robots develop physical skills without relying on human demonstrations, using its S1 robotics foundation model to learn soccer through more than 140 years of simulated play. The company says the technique could eventually let robots acquire increasingly complex skills in factories, construction and other settings.
What it means Removing the need for human demonstrations would ease one of the main data bottlenecks in training robots.
