n8n launches Agents that sit alongside its workflows and can call them as tools

On 25 September 2026 n8n introduced Agents: you describe a task and give the agent a model plus the tools and workflows it may use, and it works out the steps itself. The same agent can run in Slack, on a schedule or from any workflow. Workflows can call an agent through a new Message an Agent node, and the existing AI Agent node is unchanged.

What it means Teams already running n8n can try open-ended agents while keeping hard limits by exposing only vetted workflows as tools.
