Nvidia’s Jetson Orin Nano 2 doubles entry-level edge inference - but not until 2027

Announced 25 August 2026: 78 trillion operations per second of AI compute, 8GB of memory and an eight-core Arm CPU in the same form factor as its predecessor. Nvidia claims twice the inference performance and 40% less power at matched performance, and names Cognex, Doosan Bobcat and Matic among the first adopters. The date that matters for anyone costing a build is further out than the announcement suggests: production modules and developer kits are not expected until the first half of 2027.

What it means The default board under most hobby and low-end commercial robotics just doubled, and the eighteen-month wait for silicon is the planning fact, not the TOPS number.
