OpenAI launches GPT-6.1 Sol: near-Astra capability at a fifth of the price

On 29 September 2026 OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Sol, which it describes as delivering near-Astra intelligence for coding, computer use and professional work at one-fifth of GPT-6 Astra's standard API input and output token prices. It launched alongside the DevDay 2026 announcements.
