Samsung is weighing Chinese-made memory for its cheap phones because AI data centres bid the price up
TechNode reports Samsung Electronics is considering putting cost-competitive Chinese-made DRAM and other locally sourced components into entry- and mid-level phones sold in China. The stated reason is component prices driven up by booming AI data-centre demand, which has pushed local handset makers to cut shipments and opened a gap Samsung wants to fill.
What it means AI infrastructure demand is now visibly reaching consumer hardware pricing - the same squeeze that raises an inference bill is changing what goes inside a budget phone.
